Isn't that a funny quote?  Especially appropriate in our age of e-mails and text messages!   I think of this quote while I'm creating imagery too.

I try to balance simplification with little personal touches in my art.  It gives the viewer something to discover. Friends tell me that they display my set of Christmas plates every year, that it's become a tradition to look carefully and "read" all the different stories on each plate, including our Westies Rex and Libby who can be found upstairs in bed while Santa tucks packages under the Christmas tree.  Libby is keeping one eye open, as usual.  Such details provide universal warmth and appeal.
