As part of her education, Denise attended a semester at NYC School of Visual Arts Graduate Program:  Illustration as Visual Essay.  During this life-changing experience, she gained expertise in combining her own imagery and writing to express her personal vision as a visual storyteller.  Denise has also taught Illustration, Mixed-Media and Watercolor at both the Kansas City Art Institute and the University of Kansas.  

In addition to creating works on paper, Denise loves making one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture, sculpture and welded art.  She also volunteers as a Certified Master Naturalist with the Missouri Department of Conservation.  Her passionate connection to the natural world enriches her life and her artwork.
